Mahakali teaser: Akshaye Khanna’s fierce Shukracharya look sets an intense tone

Akshaye Khanna is set to take audiences into the world of Indian mythology with his latest role as Shukracharya in Mahakali. The makers have unveiled a nearly three-minute teaser titled ‘Shukracharya’s War Cry’, offering the first detailed glimpse of the actor as the powerful guru of the Asuras.
Akshaye Khanna leaves fans stunned as Shukracharya
The teaser establishes the central conflict of Mahakali, opening with an intense battle between the forces of Dharma and Adharma. At the heart of this conflict is Shukracharya, a formidable and influential figure from Indian mythology. Akshaye Khanna’s character appears to have a significant role in the war that drives the story forward.
Khanna undergoes a striking transformation for the role. Sporting a long silver-white beard, matted hair tied into a topknot, traditional attire and prominent tilak markings, the actor looks almost unrecognisable as Shukracharya. His intense expressions and commanding screen presence have already caught the attention of audiences, with fans praising his new avatar on social media.

The role comes after Khanna’s acclaimed performance as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar, making his transformation into a mythological character another notable addition to his recent filmography. Mahakali will also mark his Telugu debut and is part of filmmaker Prasanth Varma’s expanding cinematic universe, which began with Hanu-Man.
The film centres on Goddess Kali and features Bhoomi Shetty in the lead role. Rohit Saraf is also part of the cast. The project is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the RKD Studios banner, with Prasanth Varma creating the larger cinematic universe.
First look of Akshaye Khanna
The makers had first unveiled Khanna’s complete look as Shukracharya last week, generating considerable buzz online. They had teased the August 24 reveal with the cryptic message, “24th August The End Begins”, building anticipation around the first major glimpse of the film.
With its mythology-driven narrative, large-scale conflict and striking visual presentation, Mahakali promises to expand the world established by the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. Khanna’s intense portrayal of Shukracharya has added another layer of intrigue to the project, particularly following the strong response to his recent performances.
As the teaser introduces the battle between Dharma and Adharma, audiences are now eager to discover how Shukracharya fits into the larger story and what role he will play in the conflict surrounding Goddess Kali.
