Shraddha Kapoor on dealing with negativity amid Eetha controversy

Shraddha Kapoor has opened up about her approach to criticism, revealing that she prefers to concentrate on her work rather than pay heed to negativity. When asked how she deals with criticism, the actress candidly admitted that it isn’t something she is particularly interested in engaging with. Her remarks come amid the mixed reactions to her Marathi dialogue delivery and accent in the trailer of her upcoming film, Eetha. The actress essays the role of legendary Lavani and Tamasha performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
Shraddha Kapoor on handling criticism
In a recent AMA session on Instagram with her fans, Shraddha was asked how she handles negativity and criticism. She straightforwardly answered with a pinch of humour: “I actually don’t handle criticism. What’s there to handle in that? I can’t even handle my WhatsApp,” the actress said.
The actress also shared that she does not even have a manager to take care of the negativity. She said, “I don’t even have a manager, nor am I affiliated with any agency. My friends, directors, and producers keep scolding me that I don’t check my phone.”
Shraddha made it clear that criticism isn’t something she wishes to dwell on. Instead, she wants to prioritise work and explore more projects. Her statements reflect an attitude where she prefers to invest her time and energy in her career rather than engage with online debate or negative feedback. “I’m not interested in handling any criticism. All I want to do is work, and more and more work. That’s it,” the 39-year-old added.
Why is Shraddha Kapoor being criticised?
Shraddha’s comments have come at a time when she is being scrutinised for her performance in Laxman Utekar-directed Eetha. The actress is playing the character of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a renowned Marathi Lavani and Tamasha artist, who made a significant contribution to the folk entertainment of Maharashtra. After the release of the trailer, some netizens felt her Marathi was too made up, while others criticised her voice modulation and expressions in some sequences.
Eetha also stars Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Siddharth Jadhav. The biographical drama is slated to hit theatres on December 4, 2026.
