Filmmaker David Dhawan celebrated his 75th birthday with a star-studded gathering attended by several of his friends and industry colleagues. Among those joining the celebrations were Salman Khan, David’s son Varun Dhawan, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and writer-director Rumy Jafry, who shared glimpses from the evening on social media.

Jafry’s Instagram post offered a peek into the intimate celebration, with David seen posing alongside Salman, Varun and other members of the film fraternity. In one of the pictures, the group gathers around the birthday cake as David stands at the centre of the frame.

Salman added his trademark flair to the evening, turning up in an all-black outfit paired with a cowboy hat. Varun, meanwhile, kept things affectionate as he was seen planting a kiss on his father’s cheek. Another group photograph featured Salman, David and Varun posing with the guests, including Sajid Nadiadwala.
Sharing the pictures, Jafry wrote, “Wishing David Sahab a very happy birthday. May you stay healthy and happy always,” while tagging Salman, Varun, Nadiadwala and others.
Varun also took to Instagram to wish his father, calling him the “chillest dad” and adding, “75 hard.” David Dhawan got emotional while talking about son Varun at Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai trailer launch.

David Dhawan’s Bollywood legacy
David Dhawan has spent decades shaping Hindi cinema’s comedy landscape, particularly through his much-loved collaborations with Govinda. The filmmaker and actor delivered a string of popular entertainers together, including Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Haseena Maan Jaayegi and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
His association with Salman Khan has also produced memorable entertainers. The duo first worked together on Judwaa, before reuniting years later for Partner. David also directed Varun in Main Tera Hero, giving the father-son duo a chance to collaborate professionally.
While David’s filmography is packed with broad comedies and commercial entertainers, his influence on the genre remains unmistakable.
