Hina Khan and Rubina Dilaik found themselves on opposite sides of a debate over whether a superstar’s personal life can influence their professional success. During the latest episode of their podcast The Point of View, the two actors, joined by their husbands Rocky Jaiswal and Abhinav Shukla, discussed how audiences perceive celebrities beyond their work.
Aamir Khan’s third wedding sparks debate
The debate began after Rocky brought up the criticism Aamir has faced over his recent third marriage with Gauri Spratt and asked whether a celebrity’s personal life can affect the audience’s perception of their work.
While Rubina maintained that it does, Hina disagreed, saying, “By that logic, none of Aamir Khan’s films should work.” When Rubina argued that Aamir had never really been surrounded by major controversies, Hina responded, “Is this any less controversial?” referring to the actor’s third marriage with Gauri Spratt.
Explaining her point further, Hina said, “The average person would naturally think, ‘Seriously? Getting married again? Left this one too?'” She clarified that she was not judging Aamir’s choices but highlighting how society often reacts to such situations.
Rubina Dilaik shares her perspective
Rubina interrupted, asking, “Why are we judging?” She argued that despite his personal life making headlines, Aamir’s remarkable body of work continues to define him more than anything else.
Hina Khan reiterated that she was only talking about societal perceptions, saying, “It isn’t considered very good in our society, Rubina… marriage after marriage after marriage.” Rocky also weighed in, adding, “Forget about marriage; even divorce is not viewed favourably.”
Hina further pointed out that while society has become more accepting over time, there are still many communities where divorce and multiple marriages continue to be viewed negatively.
Despite their contrasting viewpoints, the discussion ended on a cordial note. Hina, Rubina and their husbands agreed that Aamir remains a “good guy” and one of Bollywood’s most respected stars. While Rubina stood by her belief that a celebrity’s personal life can influence their career, Hina maintained that audiences ultimately continue to support actors whose work resonates with them, regardless of their personal choices. The conversation has since gained attention online.
