Govinda reunited with his family for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations after returning from the US. The actor made a late-night appearance on September 14, offering prayers to Lord Ganesha and seeking blessings for his children, Yashvardhan and Tina. His arrival came hours after wife Sunita Ahuja welcomed Ganpati Bappa home in his absence. Videos of Sunita dancing to dhol beats during the celebrations surfaced online, sparking speculation about Govinda’s whereabouts. She later clarified that her husband was in America and was expected to return that night. True to her word, Govinda reached home in time and joined the family festivities, putting the speculation surrounding his absence to rest.
Sunita Ahuja revealed why Govinda wasn’t there
While talking to ANI, Sunita Ahuja shared the reason why Govinda wasn’t present during Bappa’s aagaman at their home, she said, “Govinda ji is in America, he’ll come back at night. If he is tired, he won’t come for darshan today and instead will come tomorrow. This is his house, so he has to come.”
After returning from the US, Govinda headed straight home to join his family for their annual Ganpati celebrations. The actor was seen seeking Lord Ganesha’s blessings alongside his children, Tina and Yashvardhan. Speaking about the family tradition, Govinda revealed that the celebrations were started by his mother and have continued over the years. He also spoke about his hopes for Yashvardhan, expressing his wish for his son to carry forward the family’s legacy successfully. Govinda’s presence added to the festive spirit as the family came together to mark the occasion and seek blessings from Bappa.
Govinda arrives from US to celebrate the auspicious ocassion
Govinda further spoke to ANI about why he couldn’t be at the aagaman this time, “This is a tradition in our house from my mother. I’ve been doing this for years, and now Yash is doing it. I pray to Bappa to give Yash his best wishes and blessings. May there be blessings of success and prosperity.” He even had special wish for his kids, “May God bless Tina with a good home and family. And Yash, the way he has carried forward his family’s legacy, I hope he becomes even more successful. I hope he becomes so successful that people say he’s even better than Govinda. May Bappa bless him, and may he never face any hardships.”

She revealed that Govinda or their son Yashvardhan generally takes responsibility for bringing the idol home, but this year she chose to do it herself. Sunita said she welcomed Bappa with singing and dancing, making the occasion especially joyful. She also credited Lord Ganesha for the positive developments in her life over the past year.
The actor’s wife shared that her hard work had brought her recognition, fame and several opportunities, motivating her to personally bring the idol home and seek Bappa’s blessings. She further expressed gratitude by saying, “In the last one year, Bappa has given me so much fame. I’ve been working hard, and things have gone really well for me. So I decided that I’d bring Lord Ganesha with my own hands.”
