Actor and host Maniesh Paul recently recalled being asked to mock Katrina Kaif’s Hindi during an awards show. However, Maniesh directly refused to make jokes about the actress and instead assured the organisers that he could use some funny punchlines without making anyone feel awkward. For the unversed, Maniesh and Katrina worked together in the 2010 action-comedy film Tees Maar Khan.
Maniesh Paul was asked to make fun of Katrina Kaif’s Hindi
In an interview with Zoom TV, Maniesh recounted how Katrina would come to his award shows and feel at ease with him because he never joked about her Hindi. “Jab main un dino bahut hosting kar raha tha, toh Katrina, every award night, she would come. And she would feel comfortable when I would be there. Why? Kyunki maine kabhi unki Hindi ka mazaak nahi banaya,” he said.
Maniesh clarified that it is not appropriate to make fun of someone for not being able to speak Hindi well. Additionally, he said that making constant jokes about Katrina’s Hindi was “boring” and that he occasionally felt pressured by television channels to do so. But he refused to back down and assured them he could make the crowd laugh without targeting the actress.
“Kayi baar channel bhi pressure deta tha… lekin I used to say, ‘Aapko fun karna hai na? Aapko 3 minute ka laughter chahiye na? Main dila dunga,” Maniesh recalled. The television host underlined that making someone laugh shouldn’t come at the expense of making someone feel uncomfortable or ashamed.
Katrina Kaif on social media trolling
Katrina Kaif recently faced online trolling over her post-pregnancy appearance after she was spotted with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal. Responding to social media criticism at the recent Kay Beauty event in London, the actress said, “I think we really need to be careful of letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth and our value, because there are so many opinions out there.”
