Why has Aamir Khan stopped dyeing his hair at 61?

Aamir Khan’s latest appearance at an event has garnered attention on social media, as the veteran actor, 61, can be seen rocking a salt-and-pepper look. His avatar surprised fans, leaving them eager about the sudden change in his look. During a panel discussion at Celebrate Cinema Festival 2026 with Subhash Ghai in Mumbai, Aamir Khan revealed the reason behind his look and why he has stopped dyeing his hair.

For the event, Aamir opted for a floral print, button-down shirt styled with black pants and clear-frame glasses. Nailing a salt-and-pepper look, he was asked by the media about his new avatar. The actor then replied that it was not linked to any specific role. While brushing his hand through his hair, the actor remarked, “This look is nothing special; I just stopped dyeing my hair. However, director Subash Ghai joked, teasing Aamir that the new look might be for his next film. “You see, whenever you look at him with a different setup, you should understand that he’s studying a character.”
Although Aamir has previously been seen embracing the salt-and-pepper look on several public occasions, this latest look recieved praise from his fans for openly admitting that he is not dyeing his hair anymore.

In another video, Aamir Khan was also seen answering a journalist questioning if he will be seen starring in Andaz Apna Apna 2 or Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lala Amarnath biopic, Lalkaar. For Andaz Apna Apna 2, the actor confessed that he is also looking forward to the sequel of the cult classic film, which also starred Salman Khan.
As for Lalkaar, he responded, “Let’s see what happens. If we have an official announcement, I will tell you about the film…because every film is a process. And if you say something quickly, and if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t seem good. When things are ready, and they’re completely final, we will keep everything in front of you.”
On the professional front, Aamir Khan was last seen in the family entertainer film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences.
