Anupam Kher has spoken about Govinda amid the ongoing attention around the actor’s personal life and his marriage to Sunita Ahuja. In a recent interview, Kher praised Govinda’s talent and said personal matters should not overshadow his professional work.
Anupam Kher has an advice for Govinda
Speaking to Faridoon Shahryar, Anupam said he has worked with Govinda in around 10-12 films and remains fond of the actor. He described him as one of the finest performers he has worked with, particularly praising his acting, dancing and ability to improvise. “I am very fond of Govinda. I think he is one of the finest actors that I have worked with. I have done 10-12 films with him. Improvisation, acting, dance – no one can compete with him,” Kher said.
While discussing Govinda’s current circumstances, Kher stressed that an actor’s personal life should not completely overshadow his professional identity. “But you should not allow your personal life or your habits to overshadow your entire life,” he said. Kher also clarified that he was not passing judgment on Govinda or his choices. He revealed that he had called the actor and wanted to tell him, “This too shall pass.”
“I am no one to pass a judgement on him. He knows his life better, and he can deal with it. I called him once, and he said he will call me back. I wanted to tell him, ‘This too shall pass,’” Kher said.
The actor added that everyone goes through difficult phases and expressed hope that Govinda would move past the current situation and return to doing more work. “Everyone’s life has tragedy,” he said, adding that Govinda appeared to have become “bogged down” by his surroundings and personal life but had not given up. Kher further said, “I pray that he bounces back and does much more work than he is doing.”
