According to reports by The Indian Express, Urmila initiated legal separation proceedings in Bandra. Hindustan Times had earlier reported that she filed for divorce around four months before the report was published in September 2024, with a source claiming that the separation was not mutual. The reason behind their split was never publicly disclosed.
