Salman Khan-linked Goa project under scanner over alleged CRZ violations

A housing project in Goa allegedly linked to Bollywood star Salman Khan has come under judicial scrutiny after the Bombay High Court’s Goa bench issued notices on a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging violations of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms. The petition has raised concerns over the legality of construction at a property in Candolim and seeks an investigation into whether environmental regulations were breached.
Salman Khan related property in legal trouble
According to reports, the PIL was filed by activist Kashinath Shetye, who alleged that the construction was carried out in a CRZ-protected area without adhering to mandatory environmental regulations. Besides Salman Khan, the petition has named multiple government authorities, including the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), the Goa government and other concerned agencies, seeking action over the alleged irregularities.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the Bombay High Court has issued notices to all respondents and directed them to file their replies. At this stage, the court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the allegations. The notices mark the beginning of judicial proceedings, with the case expected to be heard after responses are submitted by the parties involved.
Details about the petition
The petition claims that the project may have violated provisions of the CRZ Notification, which regulates construction and development activities along India’s ecologically sensitive coastal stretches. The petitioner has sought a detailed inquiry into the approvals granted for the project and requested that authorities verify whether all statutory permissions were obtained before construction commenced.
So far, neither Salman Khan nor his representatives have publicly responded to the allegations. The reports also do not indicate any finding of wrongdoing against the actor. The matter remains sub judice, and the allegations made in the PIL are yet to be examined by the court.
The latest development adds another legal chapter to a project that has now attracted public attention because of the actor’s reported association with it. The outcome of the proceedings will depend on the responses filed by the concerned parties and the High Court’s assessment of whether any CRZ norms were violated. Until then, the case remains under judicial consideration.
